Dean & Lora Block

Board Member, Canada

The newest member of our Canadian board, Dean Block came to know Jesus at age 8. After completing Bible College in the mid-80s, Dean served in Canada, the US, India and Sweden through Venture Teams International. During this one-year mission exposure, he met his wife Laura. Dean spent the next 10 years working on logging trucks in Northwestern Ontario and fathering three children. Laura’s part-time work as a nurse and homeschooling their children has enabled Dean to minister in a variety of capacities in their local church (AWANA leader, deacon, elder, preaching) and globally through FIA.
In 2000, the Blocks served for 3 months with FIA in Chihuahua, Mexico supervising teams working at the NTM National Missionary Training Facility. Dean also served in Africa as Equipment Manager and Co-Project Manager for FIA’s Water of Life Well Drilling Project from 2003-2005. He continued as a field leader for the project while living in Canada from 2005-2009. Since that time, Dean continues to attend 1-3 FIA trips annually assisting with equipment maintenance and well drilling, as well as serving on FIA’s Canadian board.
